When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come forth from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

“Why are not times of judgment kept by the Almighty, and why do those who know him never see his days?


Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.


O Lord, my Lord, my strong deliverer, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.


Give heed to my cry; for I am brought very low! Deliver me from my persecutors; for they are too strong for me!


And in thy steadfast love cut off my enemies, and destroy all my adversaries, for I am thy servant.


For the enemy has pursued me; he has crushed my life to the ground; he has made me sit in darkness like those long dead.


Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies! I have fled to thee for refuge!


Arise, O Lord! confront them, overthrow them! Deliver my life from the wicked by thy sword,


O my God, in thee I trust, let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me.

The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage, for as you have testified about me at Jerusalem, so you must bear witness also at Rome.”


and he said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar; and lo, God has granted you all those who sail with you.’


For I am already on the point of being sacrificed; the time of my departure has come.


since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.


And David said, “As the Lord lives, the Lord will smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle and perish.
