The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven; his eyes behold, his eyelids test, the children of men.


The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and his soul hates him that loves violence.


O Lord, thou hast searched me and known me!


If thou triest my heart, if thou visitest me by night, if thou testest me, thou wilt find no wickedness in me; my mouth does not transgress.


Prove me, O Lord, and try me; test my heart and my mind.


The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and the Lord tries hearts.


But, O Lord of hosts, who judgest righteously, who tries the heart and the mind, let me see thy vengeance upon them, for to thee have I committed my cause.


And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are my people’; and they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’ ”


who fed you in the wilderness with manna which your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and test you, to do you good in the end.


And you shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not.


so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold which though perishable is tested by fire, may redound to praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
