Do not hide thy face from me in the day of my distress! Incline thy ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call!


Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress;


Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.


I lift up my eyes to the hills. From whence does my help come?


I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”


To thee I lift up my eyes, O thou who art enthroned in the heavens!


If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, let Israel now say—


Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides for ever.


When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.


Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.


Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways!


“Sorely have they afflicted me from my youth,” let Israel now say—


Out of the depths I cry to thee, O Lord!


O Lord, my heart is not lifted up, my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.


Remember, O Lord, in David's favor, all the hardships he endured;


Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!


Come, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who stand by night in the house of the Lord!


In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.


and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”


He who brings thanksgiving as his sacrifice honors me; to him who orders his way aright I will show the salvation of God!”


saying, “I called to the Lord, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and thou didst hear my voice.


For thou didst cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood was round about me; all thy waves and thy billows passed over me.
