In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to me, “Flee like a bird to the mountains;


The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none that does good.


who does not put out his money at interest, and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.


As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.”


Because sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the sons of men is fully set to do evil.


You said, “I shall be mistress for ever,” so that you did not lay these things to heart or remember their end.


“Come,” they say, “let us get wine, let us fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow will be like this day, great beyond measure.”


Like entangled thorns they are consumed, like dry stubble.


But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’


When people say, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as travail comes upon a woman with child, and there will be no escape.


As she glorified herself and played the wanton, so give her a like measure of torment and mourning. Since in her heart she says, ‘A queen I sit, I am no widow, mourning I shall never see,’
