He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures for ever; his horn is exalted in honor.


Blessed is he who considers the poor! The Lord delivers him in the day of trouble;


the Lord protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; thou dost not give him up to the will of his enemies.


Because I have called and you refused to listen, have stretched out my hand and no one has heeded,


He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.


He who has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.


She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.


For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you will, you can do good to them; but you will not always have me.


But of Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”


Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality.

For the poor will never cease out of the land; therefore I command you, You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in the land.


Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
