Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied, and never satisfied are the eyes of man.


There are those whose teeth are swords, whose teeth are knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, the needy from among men.


Sheol, the barren womb, the earth ever thirsty for water, and the fire which never says, “Enough.”


Under three things the earth trembles; under four it cannot bear up:


Four things on earth are small, but they are exceedingly wise:


Three things are stately in their tread; four are stately in their stride:


There are six things which the Lord hates, seven which are an abomination to him:


But you, draw near hither, sons of the sorceress, offspring of the adulterer and the harlot.


A band of drunkards, they give themselves to harlotry; they love shame more than their glory.

Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment; because they have rejected the law of the Lord, and have not kept his statutes, but their lies have led them astray, after which their fathers walked.


Their hands are upon what is evil, to do it diligently; the prince and the judge ask for a bribe, and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul; thus they weave it together.


Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.


They answered him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham's children, you would do what Abraham did,


You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.


For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by fair and flattering words they deceive the hearts of the simple-minded.


And in their greed they will exploit you with false words; from of old their condemnation has not been idle, and their destruction has not been asleep.
