One man gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.


A liberal man will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.


The people curse him who holds back grain, but a blessing is on the head of him who sells it.


He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.


He who has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.


He who says to the wicked, “You are innocent,” will be cursed by peoples, abhorred by nations;


When the wicked rise, men hide themselves, but when they perish, the righteous increase.


When you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.


You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him; because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.


“If there is among you a poor man, one of your brethren, in any of your towns within your land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother,


Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
