Let a good man strike or rebuke me in kindness, but let the oil of the wicked never anoint my head; for my prayer is continually against their wicked deeds.


A wise son hears his father's instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.


A fool despises his father's instruction, but he who heeds admonition is prudent.


An evil man seeks only rebellion, and a cruel messenger will be sent against him.


He who forgives an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter alienates a friend.


Strike a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; reprove a man of understanding, and he will gain knowledge.


Crush a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, yet his folly will not depart from him.


By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not give heed.


Those whom I love, I reprove and chasten; so be zealous and repent.
