Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, else it will not keep with you.


The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice.


Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come upon the land of Egypt, and eat every plant in the land, all that the hail has left.”


The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of sense.


The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.


To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is!


The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the minds of fools.


The wise of heart is called a man of discernment, and pleasant speech increases persuasiveness.


A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool.


Condemnation is ready for scoffers, and flogging for the backs of fools.


There is gold, and abundance of costly stones; but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.


A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the back of fools.


Crush a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, yet his folly will not depart from him.


He who commits adultery has no sense; he who does it destroys himself.


All at once he follows her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a stag is caught fast


The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him that is weary. Morning by morning he wakens, he wakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.


And all spoke well of him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth; and they said, “Is not this Joseph's son?”
