“Give counsel, grant justice; make your shade like night at the height of noon; hide the outcasts, betray not the fugitive;


let the outcasts of Moab sojourn among you; be a refuge to them from the destroyer. When the oppressor is no more, and destruction has ceased, and he who tramples under foot has vanished from the land,


They said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, ‘This day is a day of distress, of rebuke, and of disgrace; children have come to the birth, and there is no strength to bring them forth.


Alas! that day is so great there is none like it; it is a time of distress for Jacob; yet he shall be saved out of it.


Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment; because they carried into exile a whole people to deliver them up to Edom.


Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment; because they delivered up a whole people to Edom, and did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.


But you should not have gloated over the day of your brother in the day of his misfortune; you should not have rejoiced over the people of Judah in the day of their ruin; you should not have boasted in the day of distress.


Go therefore to the thoroughfares, and invite to the marriage feast as many as you find.’
