19 God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfil it?

Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you; for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will fulfil the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.


Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done that of which I have spoken to you.”


Any one belonging to Jeroboam who dies in the city the dogs shall eat; and any one who dies in the open country the birds of the air shall eat; for the Lord has spoken it.” ’


(This was the promise of the Lord which he gave to Jehu, “Your sons shall sit upon the throne of Israel to the fourth generation.” And so it came to pass.)


Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God, “If the Lord himself should make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” But he said, “You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”

The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, “You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.”

Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” Selah


I will not violate my covenant, or alter the word that went forth from my lips.


Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David.


and the remainder of the archers of the mighty men of the sons of Kedar will be few; for the Lord, the God of Israel, has spoken.”


And yet he is wise and brings disaster, he does not call back his words, but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the helpers of those who work iniquity.


The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand for ever.

All this came upon King Nebuchadnezzar.


I will not execute my fierce anger, I will not again destroy Ephraim; for I am God and not man, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come to destroy.


Thou wilt show faithfulness to Jacob and steadfast love to Abraham, as thou hast sworn to our fathers from the days of old.


For still the vision awaits its time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seem slow, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay.


“For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.


I, the Lord, have spoken; surely this will I do to all this wicked congregation that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall come to a full end, and there they shall die.”

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.


For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.


But it is not as though the word of God had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel,


if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.


in hope of eternal life which God, who never lies, promised ages ago


so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible that God should prove false, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to seize the hope set before us.


Those who formerly became priests took their office without an oath, but this one was addressed with an oath, “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘Thou art a priest for ever.’ ”


Every good endowment and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.


Or do you suppose it is in vain that the scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit which he has made to dwell in us”?


Not one of all the good promises which the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.


And also the Glory of Israel will not lie or repent; for he is not a man, that he should repent.”


On that day I will fulfil against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end.
