So he made their days vanish like a breath, and their years in terror.


Give heed to him and hearken to his voice, do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression; for my name is in him.


As I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you, says the Lord God.


God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfil it?


For the Lord had said of them, “They shall die in the wilderness.” There was not left a man of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.


Now these things happened to them as a warning, but they were written down for our instruction, upon whom the end of the ages has come.


Nevertheless with most of them God was not pleased; for they were overthrown in the wilderness.


So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.


For the people of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the nation, the men of war that came forth out of Egypt, perished, because they did not hearken to the voice of the Lord; to them the Lord swore that he would not let them see the land which the Lord had sworn to their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
