And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain apart.


Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him, with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him for something.


And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled.


As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.


And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.


And immediately he left the synagogue, and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.


And as he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,


The apostles returned to Jesus, and told him all that they had done and taught.


Therefore also the Wisdom of God said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and persecute,’


And when the hour came, he sat at table, and the apostles with him.


So Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the passover for us, that we may eat it.”


and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; henceforth you will be catching men.”


On their return the apostles told him what they had done. And he took them and withdrew apart to a city called Beth-saida.


Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew went with Philip and they told Jesus.


One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was lying close to the breast of Jesus;


So she ran, and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.”


Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathana-el of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.


Peter turned and saw following them the disciple whom Jesus loved, who had lain close to his breast at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?”


This is the disciple who is bearing witness to these things, and who has written these things; and we know that his testimony is true.


Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also wish to go away?”


Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”


He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was to betray him.


One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him,


and when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas the son of James.


And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias; and he was enrolled with the eleven apostles.


He killed James the brother of John with the sword;


Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.


Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.


And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers,


Therefore, holy brethren, who share in a heavenly call, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.


Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,


Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:

I John am he who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me;
