And when one comes to see me, he utters empty words, while his heart gathers mischief; when he goes out, he tells it abroad.


Woe to those who devise wickedness and work evil upon their beds! When the morning dawns, they perform it, because it is in the power of their hand.


But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a man.


But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”


there is nothing outside a man which by going into him can defile him; but the things which come out of a man are what defile him.”


For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, fornication, theft, murder, adultery,


All these evil things come from within, and they defile a man.”


But this man who has not their genealogy received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.


And the tongue is a fire. The tongue is an unrighteous world among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the cycle of nature, and set on fire by hell.


What causes wars, and what causes fightings among you? Is it not your passions that are at war in your members?
