We must all die, we are like water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; but God will not take away the life of him who devises means not to keep his banished one an outcast.


He is not afraid of evil tidings; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.


Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.


Do not be afraid of sudden panic, or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes;


“Do not call conspiracy all that this people call conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread.


Let not your heart faint, and be not fearful at the report heard in the land, when a report comes in one year and afterward a report in another year, and violence is in the land, and ruler is against ruler.


“Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the man by whom the temptation comes!


When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;


Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray.


For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places, there will be famines; this is but the beginning of the birth-pangs.


“Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me.


Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
