A man's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.


Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”


Then said Jesus to the crowds and to his disciples,


And he cautioned them, saying, “Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”


Woe to you Pharisees! for you love the best seat in the synagogues and salutations in the market places.


In the meantime, when so many thousands of the multitude had gathered together that they trod upon one another, he began to say to his disciples first, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.


Now he told a parable to those who were invited, when he marked how they chose the places of honor, saying to them,


who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”
