Have pity on me, have pity on me, O you my friends, for the hand of God has touched me!


My days are like an evening shadow; I wither away like grass.


Thou who hast made me see many sore troubles wilt revive me again; from the depths of the earth thou wilt bring me up again.


Thy wrath lies heavy upon me, and thou dost overwhelm me with all thy waves. Selah


He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.


So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the cistern of Malchiah, the king's son, which was in the court of the guard, letting Jeremiah down by ropes. And there was no water in the cistern, but only mire, and Jeremiah sank in the mire.


the men, the women, the children, the princesses, and every person whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan; also Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch the son of Neriah.


For the wound of the daughter of my people is my heart wounded, I mourn, and dismay has taken hold on me.
