And of Dan he said, “Dan is a lion's whelp, that leaps forth from Bashan.”


And they put to the sword all who were in it, utterly destroying them; there was none left that breathed, and he burned Hazor with fire.


When the territory of the Danites was lost to them, the Danites went up and fought against Leshem, and after capturing it and putting it to the sword they took possession of it and settled in it, calling Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their ancestor.


When you go, you will come to an unsuspecting people. The land is broad; yea, God has given it into your hands, a place where there is no lack of anything that is in the earth.”


Then the Danites went their way; and when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back to his home.


Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people who were there, how they dwelt in security, after the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and unsuspecting, lacking nothing that is in the earth, and possessing wealth, and how they were far from the Sidonians and had no dealings with any one.


And Gideon went up by the caravan route east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and attacked the army; for the army was off its guard.
