Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to test him with hard questions.


And he said, “All is well. My master has sent me to say, ‘There have just now come to me from the hill country of Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets; pray, give them a talent of silver and two festal garments.’ ”


And the king of Syria said, “Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” So he went, taking with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold, and ten festal garments.


At that time Solomon held the feast for seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entrance of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt.


I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will solve my riddle to the music of the lyre.

Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten.


And when the people saw him, they brought thirty companions to be with him.


but if you cannot tell me what it is, then you shall give me thirty linen garments and thirty festal garments.” And they said to him, “Put your riddle, that we may hear it.”
