Joshua 24:32 - Revised Standard Version

32 The bones of Joseph which the people of Israel brought up from Egypt were buried at Shechem, in the portion of ground which Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for a hundred pieces of money; it became an inheritance of the descendants of Joseph.

And from the sons of Hamor, Shechem's father, he bought for a hundred pieces of money the piece of land on which he had pitched his tent.


Moreover I have given to you rather than to your brothers one mountain slope which I took from the hand of the Amorites with my sword and with my bow.”


And Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die; but God will visit you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”


Then Joseph took an oath of the sons of Israel, saying, “God will visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.”


And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him; for Joseph had solemnly sworn the people of Israel, saying, “God will visit you; then you must carry my bones with you from here.”


So he came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.


and Jacob went down into Egypt. And he died, himself and our fathers,


and they were carried back to Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham had bought for a sum of silver from the sons of Hamor in Shechem.


By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, made mention of the exodus of the Israelites and gave directions concerning his burial.
