38 After this Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him leave. So he came and took away his body.

The fear of man lays a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord is safe.


Nevertheless many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:


Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him.


His parents said this because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if any one should confess him to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.


And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb.


and most of the brethren have been made confident in the Lord because of my imprisonment, and are much more bold to speak the word of God without fear.
