Judah is a lion's whelp; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as a lioness; who dares rouse him up?


and behold, a great wind came across the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young people, and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell you.”


His children will seek the favor of the poor, and his hands will give back his wealth.


I broke the fangs of the unrighteous, and made him drop his prey from his teeth.


“Can you hunt the prey for the lion, or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,


But he saves the fatherless from their mouth, the needy from the hand of the mighty.


His sons are far from safety, they are crushed in the gate, and there is no one to deliver them.


The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.


Come, O sons, listen to me, I will teach you the fear of the Lord.


lest like a lion they rend me, dragging me away, with none to rescue.


A lion has gone up from his thicket, a destroyer of nations has set out; he has gone forth from his place to make your land a waste; your cities will be ruins without inhabitant.


They shall go after the Lord, he will roar like a lion; yea, he will roar, and his sons shall come trembling from the west;


Behold, a people! As a lioness it rises up and as a lion it lifts itself; it does not lie down till it devours the prey, and drinks the blood of the slain.”


He couched, he lay down like a lion, and like a lioness; who will rouse him up? Blessed be every one who blesses you, and cursed be every one who curses you.”


But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength to proclaim the message fully, that all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion's mouth.
