when he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder;


For he draws up the drops of water, he distils his mist in rain


Whether for correction, or for his land, or for love, he causes it to happen.


“Who has cleft a channel for the torents of rain, and a way for the thunderbolt,


he gives rain upon the earth and sends waters upon the fields;


He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water.


He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth, who makes lightnings for the rain and brings forth the wind from his storehouses.


The pastures of the wilderness drip, the hills gird themselves with joy,


When he utters his voice there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightnings for the rain, and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses.


Are there any among the false gods of the nations that can bring rain? Or can the heavens give showers? Art thou not he, O Lord our God? We set our hope on thee, for thou doest all these things.
