And the men who have been mentioned by name rose and took the captives, and with the spoil they clothed all that were naked among them; they clothed them, gave them sandals, provided them with food and drink, and anointed them; and carrying all the feeble among them on asses, they brought them to their kinsfolk at Jericho, the city of palm trees. Then they returned to Samaria.


For you have exacted pledges of your brothers for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.


They thrust the poor off the road; the poor of the earth all hide themselves.


The blessing of him who was about to perish came upon me, and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.


(for from his youth I reared him as a father, and from his mother's womb I guided him);


if his loins have not blessed me, and if he was not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;


Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?


I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’


I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’


And he answered them, “He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”


So Peter rose and went with them. And when he had come, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him weeping, and showing tunics and other garments which Dorcas made while she was with them.


and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit?


Little children, let us not love in word or speech but in deed and in truth.
