Then Jehoahaz besought the Lord, and the Lord hearkened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them.


Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that thou wouldst bless me and enlarge my border, and that thy hand might be with me, and that thou wouldst keep me from harm so that it might not hurt me!” And God granted what he asked.


He prayed to him, and God received his entreaty and heard his supplication and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God.


“If you set your heart aright, you will stretch out your hands toward him.


Will he take delight in the Almighty? Will he call upon God at all times?


then man prays to God, and he accepts him, he comes into his presence with joy. He recounts to men his salvation,


so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him, and he heard the cry of the afflicted—


if you are pure and upright, surely then he will rouse himself for you and reward you with a rightful habitation.


I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.


I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.


My vows to thee I must perform, O God; I will render thank offerings to thee.


For thou, O God, hast heard my vows, thou hast given me the heritage of those who fear thy name.


When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will rescue him and honor him.


When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it; for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow.


Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, Here I am. “If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,


Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.


But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to thee; what I have vowed I will pay. Deliverance belongs to the Lord!”


“When you make a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not be slack to pay it; for the Lord your God will surely require it of you, and it would be sin in you.
