6 “Flee from the midst of Babylon, let every man save his life! Be not cut off in her punishment, for this is the time of the Lord's vengeance, the requital he is rendering her.

O Lord, thou God of vengeance, thou God of vengeance, shine forth!


He who walks with wise men becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.


Go forth from Babylon, flee from Chaldea, declare this with a shout of joy, proclaim it, send it forth to the end of the earth; say, “The Lord has redeemed his servant Jacob!”


For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and my year of redemption has come.


For many nations and great kings shall make slaves even of them; and I will recompense them according to their deeds and the work of their hands.”


They shall drink and stagger and be crazed because of the sword which I am sending among them.”


All the nations shall serve him and his son and his grandson, until the time of his own land comes; then many nations and great kings shall make him their slave.


That day is the day of the Lord God of hosts, a day of vengeance, to avenge himself on his foes. The sword shall devour and be sated, and drink its fill of their blood. For the Lord God of hosts holds a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.


Flee! Save yourselves! Be like a wild ass in the desert!


Raise a shout against her round about, she has surrendered; her bulwarks have fallen, her walls are thrown down. For this is the vengeance of the Lord: take vengeance on her, do to her as she has done.


“Hark! they flee and escape from the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the Lord our God, vengeance for his temple.


“Behold, I am against you, O proud one, says the Lord God of hosts; for your day has come, the time when I will punish you.


“Flee from the midst of Babylon, and go out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as he-goats before the flock.


“Sharpen the arrows! Take up the shields! The Lord has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Medes, because his purpose concerning Babylon is to destroy it, for that is the vengeance of the Lord, the vengeance for his temple.


Therefore thus says the Lord: “Behold, I will plead your cause and take vengeance for you. I will dry up her sea and make her fountain dry;


“Go out of the midst of her, my people! Let every man save his life from the fierce anger of the Lord!


“You that have escaped from the sword, go, stand not still! Remember the Lord from afar, and let Jerusalem come into your mind:


for a destroyer has come upon her, upon Babylon; her warriors are taken, their bows are broken in pieces; for the Lord is a God of recompense, he will surely requite.


We would have healed Babylon, but she was not healed. Forsake her, and let us go each to his own country; for her judgment has reached up to heaven and has been lifted up even to the skies.


“Thou wilt requite them, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.


And he said to the congregation, “Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be swept away with all their sins.”


In the open the sword shall bereave, and in the chambers shall be terror, destroying both young man and virgin, the sucking child with the man of gray hairs.


if I whet my glittering sword, and my hand takes hold on judgment, I will take vengeance on my adversaries, and will requite those who hate me.


“Praise his people, O you nations; for he avenges the blood of his servants, and takes vengeance on his adversaries, and makes expiation for the land of his people.”


Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, nor participate in another man's sins; keep yourself pure.


The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered great Babylon, to make her drain the cup of the fury of his wrath.
