And Solomon said, “Thou hast shown great and steadfast love to thy servant David my father, because he walked before thee in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart toward thee; and thou hast kept for him this great and steadfast love, and hast given him a son to sit on his throne this day.


May his name endure for ever, his fame continue as long as the sun! May men bless themselves by him, all nations call him blessed!


Mighty King, lover of justice, thou hast established equity; thou hast executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.


By myself I have sworn, from my mouth has gone forth in righteousness a word that shall not return: ‘To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.’


In the Lord all the offspring of Israel shall triumph and glory.”


So that he who blesses himself in the land shall bless himself by the God of truth, and he who takes an oath in the land shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten and are hid from my eyes.


But the Lord is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King. At his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his indignation.


And after I have plucked them up, I will again have compassion on them, and I will bring them again each to his heritage and each to his land.


And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, ‘As the Lord lives,’ even as they taught my people to swear by Baal, then they shall be built up in the midst of my people.


O Lord, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to thee shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say: “Our fathers have inherited naught but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit.


At that time Jerusalem shall be called the throne of the Lord, and all nations shall gather to it, to the presence of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they shall no more stubbornly follow their own evil heart.


And this city shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth who shall hear of all the good that I do for them; they shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the prosperity I provide for it.


Though they say, “As the Lord lives,” yet they swear falsely.


“For if you truly amend your ways and your doings, if you truly execute justice one with another,


but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practice steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth; for in these things I delight, says the Lord.”


And I will betroth you to me for ever; I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love, and in mercy.


“Yet even now,” says the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;


and I will bring them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be my people and I will be their God, in faithfulness and in righteousness.”


For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense is offered to my name, and a pure offering; for my name is great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.


therefore, as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast of the Lord.”

And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.”


You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve him and cleave to him, and by his name you shall swear.


When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice,


You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve him, and swear by his name.


For we are the true circumcision, who worship God in spirit, and glory in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh.


Remain this night, and in the morning, if he will do the part of the next of kin for you, well; let him do it; but if he is not willing to do the part of the next of kin for you, then, as the Lord lives, I will do the part of the next of kin for you. Lie down until the morning.”


But David replied, “Your father knows well that I have found favor in your eyes; and he thinks, ‘Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved.’ But truly, as the Lord lives and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.”
