So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh;


Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.


So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the Second Quarter); and they talked with her.


for that would be a fire which consumes unto Abaddon, and it would burn to the root all my increase.


And I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son. Then the Lord said to me, “Call his name Maher-shalal-hashbaz;


If a man lies with a woman and has an emission of semen, both of them shall bathe themselves in water, and be unclean until the evening.


And you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife, and defile yourself with her.


“Then I will draw near to you for judgment; I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow and the orphan, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.


God judges those outside. “Drive out the wicked person from among you.”


Shun immorality. Every other sin which a man commits is outside the body; but the immoral man sins against his own body.


Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts,


So that he who marries his betrothed does well; and he who refrains from marriage will do better.


Do we not have the right to be accompanied by a wife, as the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas?


For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body.


Now the works of the flesh are plain: fornication, impurity, licentiousness,


envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.


Be sure of this, that no fornicator or impure man, or one who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.


“If a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman; so you shall purge the evil from Israel.


that no man transgress, and wrong his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we solemnly forewarned you.


Let deacons be the husband of one wife, and let them manage their children and their households well;


Now a bishop must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, dignified, hospitable, an apt teacher,


He must manage his own household well, keeping his children submissive and respectful in every way;


who forbid marriage and enjoin abstinence from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.


So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, rule their households, and give the enemy no occasion to revile us.


if any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of being profligate or insubordinate.


that no one be immoral or irreligious like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal.


Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and fornicators and murderers and idolaters, and every one who loves and practices falsehood.
