And he walked in all the sins which his father did before him; and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father.


Of Zebulun fifty thousand seasoned troops, equipped for battle with all the weapons of war, to help David with singleness of purpose.


“And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off for ever.


I know, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness; in the uprightness of my heart I have freely offered all these things, and now I have seen thy people, who are present here, offering freely and joyously to thee.


Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.


With my whole heart I seek thee; let me not wander from thy commandments!


With my whole heart I cry; answer me, O Lord! I will keep thy statutes.


Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart,


Give me understanding, that I may keep thy law and observe it with my whole heart.

Their prince shall be one of themselves, their ruler shall come forth from their midst; I will make him draw near, and he shall approach me, for who would dare of himself to approach me? says the Lord.


Then I bathed you with water and washed off your blood from you, and anointed you with oil.


I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.


and he shall sprinkle it seven times upon him who is to be cleansed of leprosy; then he shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird go into the open field.


He shall put on the holy linen coat, and shall have the linen breeches on his body, be girded with the linen girdle, and wear the linen turban; these are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water, and then put them on.


And Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water.


“On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness.


And thus you shall do to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of expiation upon them, and let them go with a razor over all their body, and wash their clothes and cleanse themselves.


“I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.


Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things which have been accomplished among us,


Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.


But when they heard it, they went away, one by one, beginning with the eldest, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.


And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’


You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God.


And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.


Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, and make holiness perfect in the fear of God.


in whom we have boldness and confidence of access through our faith in him.


that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,


Slaves, be obedient to those who are your earthly masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of heart, as to Christ;


through the pretensions of liars whose consciences are seared,


he saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit,


For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices which are continually offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near.


Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,


By faith he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood, so that the Destroyer of the first-born might not touch them.


and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks more graciously than the blood of Abel.


Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.


And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness in realizing the full assurance of hope until the end,


(for the law made nothing perfect); on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.


but deal only with food and drink and various ablutions, regulations for the body imposed until the time of reformation.


For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,


But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.


Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you men of double mind.


chosen and destined by God the Father and sanctified by the Spirit for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.


Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,


and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the first-born of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
