He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the Lord.”


And God was with the lad, and he grew up; he lived in the wilderness, and became an expert with the bow.


By your sword you shall live, and you shall serve your brother; but when you break loose you shall break his yoke from your neck.”


you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of cattle from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ in order that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.”


These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God.


There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God, and turned away from evil.


And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?”


And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? He still holds fast his integrity, although you moved me against him, to destroy him without cause.”


Mark the blameless man, and behold the upright, for there is posterity for the man of peace.


you shall not build a house; you shall not sow seed; you shall not plant or have a vineyard; but you shall live in tents all your days, that you may live many days in the land where you sojourn.’


By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise.
