I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your descendants also can be counted.


The angel of the Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit to her.”


As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him and make him fruitful and multiply him exceedingly; he shall be the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.


And I will make a nation of the son of the slave woman also, because he is your offspring.”


Then she went, and sat down over against him a good way off, about the distance of a bowshot; for she said, “Let me not look upon the death of the child.” And as she sat over against him, the child lifted up his voice and wept.


Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him fast with your hand; for I will make him a great nation.”


In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.
