And the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself.”


When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram, and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless.


Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.


and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell,


David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh-gilead, and said to them, “May you be blessed by the Lord, because you showed this loyalty to Saul your lord, and buried him!


But he said, “As the Lord lives, whom I serve, I will receive none.” And he urged him to take it, but he refused.
