and let each survivor, in whatever place he sojourns, be assisted by the men of his place with silver and gold, with goods and with beasts, besides freewill offerings for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.”


saying: “O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift my face to thee, my God, for our iniquities have risen higher than our heads, and our guilt has mounted up to the heavens.


and thou didst find his heart faithful before thee, and didst make with him the covenant to give to his descendants the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite; and thou hast fulfilled thy promise, for thou art righteous.


Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; our God is merciful.


Righteous art thou, O Lord, and right are thy judgments.


If thou, O Lord, shouldst mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?


Enter not into judgment with thy servant; for no man living is righteous before thee.


But thou, terrible art thou! Who can stand before thee when once thy anger is roused?


Righteous art thou, O Lord, when I complain to thee; yet I would plead my case before thee. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all who are treacherous thrive?


“And you, son of man, say to the house of Israel, Thus have you said: ‘Our transgressions and our sins are upon us, and we waste away because of them; how then can we live?’


And if any survivors escape, they will be on the mountains, like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, every one over his iniquity.


Therefore the Lord has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us; for the Lord our God is righteous in all the works which he has done, and we have not obeyed his voice.


“But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery which they committed against me, and also in walking contrary to me,


so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and they make amends for their iniquity;


Again he said to them, “I go away, and you will seek me and die in your sin; where I am going, you cannot come.”


I told you that you would die in your sins, for you will die in your sins unless you believe that I am he.”


For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.


Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God.


If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.


And they came to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, in the land of Gilead, and they said to them,
