Now Absalom, David's son, had a beautiful sister, whose name was Tamar; and after a time Amnon, David's son, loved her.


But when she brought them near him to eat, he took hold of her, and said to her, “Come, lie with me, my sister.”


But he would not listen to her; and being stronger than she, he forced her, and lay with her.


because they have committed folly in Israel, they have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and they have spoken in my name lying words which I did not command them. I am the one who knows, and I am witness, says the Lord.’ ”


O that I had in the desert a wayfarers' lodging place, that I might leave my people and go away from them! For they are all adulterers, a company of treacherous men.


who does none of these duties, but eats upon the mountains, defiles his neighbor's wife,


if he does not eat upon the mountains or lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, does not defile his neighbor's wife or approach a woman in her time of impurity,


You resort to the sword, you commit abominations and each of you defiles his neighbor's wife; shall you then possess the land?


You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law; she is your son's wife, you shall not uncover her nakedness.


And you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor's wife, and defile yourself with her.


“None of you shall approach any one near of kin to him to uncover nakedness. I am the Lord.


You shall not uncover the nakedness of your sister, the daughter of your father or the daughter of your mother, whether born at home or born abroad.


“If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death.


If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall be put to death; they have committed incest, their blood is upon them.


“If a man takes his sister, a daughter of his father or a daughter of his mother, and sees her nakedness, and she sees his nakedness, it is a shameful thing, and they shall be cut off in the sight of the children of their people; he has uncovered his sister's nakedness, he shall bear his iniquity.


“Then I will draw near to you for judgment; I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow and the orphan, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.


Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts,


Now the works of the flesh are plain: fornication, impurity, licentiousness,


“If a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman; so you shall purge the evil from Israel.


“ ‘Cursed be he who lies with his sister, whether the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’


Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for God will judge the immoral and adulterous.
