3 for they are a rebellious house. Therefore, son of man, prepare for yourself an exile's baggage, and go into exile by day in their sight; you shall go like an exile from your place to another place in their sight. Perhaps they will understand, though they are a rebellious house.

O that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways!


Gather up your bundle from the ground, O you who dwell under siege!


It may be they will listen, and every one turn from his evil way, that I may repent of the evil which I intend to do to them because of their evil doings.


Thus the Lord said to me: “Make yourself thongs and yoke-bars, and put them on your neck.


It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I intend to do to them, so that every one may turn from his evil way, and that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”


It may be that their supplication will come before the Lord, and that every one will turn from his evil way, for great is the anger and wrath that the Lord has pronounced against this people.”


yet they did not listen to me, or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did worse than their fathers.


And I did as I was commanded. I brought out my baggage by day, as baggage for exile, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my own hands; I went forth in the dark, carrying my outfit upon my shoulder in their sight.


and I will make your tongue cleave to the roof of your mouth, so that you shall be dumb and unable to reprove them; for they are a rebellious house.


But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God’; he that will hear, let him hear; and he that will refuse to hear, let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.


Say to them, As I live, says the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways; for why will you die, O house of Israel?


And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, portray the temple, its arrangement, its exits and its entrances, and its whole form; and make known to them all its ordinances and all its laws; and write it down in their sight, so that they may observe and perform all its laws and all its ordinances.


O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!


Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; it may be they will respect him.’


If they were wise, they would understand this, they would discern their latter end!


Oh that they had such a mind as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, that it might go well with them and with their children for ever!
