Exodus 27:21 - Revised Standard Version

21 In the tent of meeting, outside the veil which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall tend it from evening to morning before the Lord. It shall be a statute for ever to be observed throughout their generations by the people of Israel.

God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.


And God called the firmament Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.


They offer to the Lord every morning and every evening burnt offerings and incense of sweet spices, set out the showbread on the table of pure gold, and care for the golden lampstand that its lamps may burn every evening; for we keep the charge of the Lord our God, but you have forsaken him.


Come, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who stand by night in the house of the Lord!


“This day shall be for you a memorial day, and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations you shall observe it as an ordinance for ever.


As the Lord commanded Moses, so Aaron placed it before the testimony, to be kept.


And you shall put into the ark the testimony which I shall give you.


and they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they go into the tent of meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister in the holy place; lest they bring guilt upon themselves and die. This shall be a perpetual statute for him and for his descendants after him.


It shall be for Aaron and his sons as a perpetual due from the people of Israel, for it is the priests' portion to be offered by the people of Israel from their peace offerings; it is their offering to the Lord.


It shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tent of meeting before the Lord, where I will meet with you, to speak there to you.


I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar; Aaron also and his sons I will consecrate, to serve me as priest.


They shall wash their hands and their feet, lest they die: it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his descendants throughout their generations.”


and you shall beat some of it very small, and put part of it before the testimony in the tent of meeting where I shall meet with you; it shall be for you most holy.


and when Aaron sets up the lamps in the evening, he shall burn it, a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations.


And you shall put in it the ark of the testimony, and you shall screen the ark with the veil.


“Drink no wine nor strong drink, you nor your sons with you, when you go into the tent of meeting, lest you die; it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations.


And this shall be an everlasting statute for you, that atonement may be made for the people of Israel once in the year because of all their sins.” And Moses did as the Lord commanded him.


So they shall no more slay their sacrifices for satyrs, after whom they play the harlot. This shall be a statute for ever to them throughout their generations.


And you shall eat neither bread nor grain parched or fresh until this same day, until you have brought the offering of your God: it is a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.


And you shall make proclamation on the same day; you shall hold a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work: it is a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.


“Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil from beaten olives for the lamp, that a light may be kept burning continually.


Outside the veil of the testimony, in the tent of meeting, Aaron shall keep it in order from evening to morning before the Lord continually; it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations.


And it shall be for Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place, since it is for him a most holy portion out of the offerings by fire to the Lord, a perpetual due.”


It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations, in all your dwelling places, that you eat neither fat nor blood.”

For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and men should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.


But the Levites shall do the service of the tent of meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity; it shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations; and among the people of Israel they shall have no inheritance.


And you shall attend to the duties of the sanctuary and the duties of the altar, that there be wrath no more upon the people of Israel.


And it shall be a perpetual statute for them. He who sprinkles the water for impurity shall wash his clothes; and he who touches the water for impurity shall be unclean until evening.


“And these things shall be for a statute and ordinance to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.”


“Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning,


He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.


For it is the God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.


And we have the prophetic word made more sure. You will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

And from that day forward he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel to this day.
