Then the Lord appeared to Abram, and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.


So Jacob rose early in the morning, and he took the stone which he had put under his head and set it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it.


and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house; and of all that thou givest me I will give the tenth to thee.”


So Jacob took a stone, and set it up as a pillar.


Then Ahijah laid hold of the new garment that was on him, and tore it into twelve pieces.

There shall be twelve stones with their names according to the names of the sons of Israel; they shall be like signets, each engraved with its name, for the twelve tribes.


And the Lord said to Moses, “Write these words; in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”


In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border.


“And you shall take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes of it; two tenths of an ephah shall be in each cake.


“Speak to the people of Israel, and get from them rods, one for each fathers' house, from all their leaders according to their fathers' houses, twelve rods. Write each man's name upon his rod,


that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.


and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised;


And Moses wrote this law, and gave it to the priests the sons of Levi, who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel.


And those twelve stones, which they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up in Gilgal.
