And Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, of the sons of Elam, addressed Ezra: “We have broken faith with our God and have married foreign women from the peoples of the land, but even now there is hope for Israel in spite of this.


Then Ezra arose and made the leading priests and Levites and all Israel take oath that they would do as had been said. So they took the oath.


He led them in safety, so that they were not afraid; but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.


Listen now to my voice; I will give you counsel, and God be with you! You shall represent the people before God, and bring their cases to God;


If you do this, and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, and all this people also will go to their place in peace.”


Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens.


the wise man also may hear and increase in learning, and the man of understanding acquire skill,
