And Haman recounted to them the splendor of his riches, the number of his sons, all the promotions with which the king had honored him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and the servants of the king.


So Haman took the robes and the horse, and he arrayed Mordecai and made him ride through the open square of the city, proclaiming, “Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.”


So the king's servants told him, “Haman is there, standing in the court.” And the king said, “Let him come in.”


And Haman said to the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor,


and let the robes and the horse be handed over to one of the king's most noble princes; let him array the man whom the king delights to honor, and let him conduct the man on horseback through the open square of the city, proclaiming before him: ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.’ ”


Let those who desire my vindication shout for joy and be glad, and say evermore, “Great is the Lord, who delights in the welfare of his servant!”


For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacence of fools destroys them;


Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.


Before destruction a man's heart is haughty, but humility goes before honor.


There are those—how lofty are their eyes, how high their eyelids lift!


Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him, he will bring forth justice to the nations.


I will rejoice in doing them good, and I will plant them in this land in faithfulness, with all my heart and all my soul.


The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, whose dwelling is high, who say in your heart, “Who will bring me down to the ground?”


and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”


and he who invited you both will come and say to you, ‘Give place to this man,’ and then you will begin with shame to take the lowest place.


that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
