For he held fast to the Lord; he did not depart from following him, but kept the commandments which the Lord commanded Moses.


But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by him shall glory; for the mouths of liars will be stopped.


“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.


The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.


By myself I have sworn, from my mouth has gone forth in righteousness a word that shall not return: ‘To me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.’


and if you swear, ‘As the Lord lives,’ in truth, in justice, and in uprightness, then nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.”


Then Jesus said to him, “Begone, Satan! for it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’ ”


And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.’ ”


When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad; and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose;


Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good;


For if you will be careful to do all this commandment which I command you to do, loving the Lord your God, walking in all his ways, and cleaving to him,


You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him, and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and cleave to him.


loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice, and cleaving to him; for that means life to you and length of days, that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”


but you who held fast to the Lord your God are all alive this day.


“ ‘You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.


Oh that they had such a mind as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, that it might go well with them and with their children for ever!


You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve him, and swear by his name.


that you may not be mixed with these nations left here among you, or make mention of the names of their gods, or swear by them, or serve them, or bow down yourselves to them,


but cleave to the Lord your God as you have done to this day.


Then Samuel said to all the house of Israel, “If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your heart to the Lord, and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.”
