In those days Peter stood up among the brethren (the company of persons was in all about a hundred and twenty), and said,


But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and went to Iconium.


Now at Iconium they entered together into the Jewish synagogue, and so spoke that a great company believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.


When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch,


they learned of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding country;


So they went out of the prison, and visited Lydia; and when they had seen the brethren, they exhorted them and departed.


Therefore, brethren, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint to this duty.


But Timothy's worth you know, how as a son with a father he has served with me in the gospel.


moreover he must be well thought of by outsiders, or he may fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.


and she must be well attested for her good deeds, as one who has brought up children, shown hospitality, washed the feet of the saints, relieved the afflicted, and devoted herself to doing good in every way.


So also good deeds are conspicuous; and even when they are not, they cannot remain hidden.


my persecutions, my sufferings, what befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra, what persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me.


and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.


For by it the men of old received divine approval.
