I myself am satisfied about you, my brethren, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, and able to instruct one another.


For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has wrought through me to win obedience from the Gentiles, by word and deed,


to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life;


If any one thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that what I am writing to you is a command of the Lord.


For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God.


And I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice, for I felt sure of all of you, that my joy would be the joy of you all.


For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.


And with them we are sending our brother whom we have often tested and found earnest in many matters, but who is now more earnest than ever because of his great confidence in you.


I have confidence in the Lord that you will take no other view than mine; and he who is troubling you will bear his judgment, whoever he is.


And I am sure that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.


Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;


and indeed you do love all the brethren throughout Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethren, to do so more and more,


Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work in quietness and to earn their own living.


Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is living in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us.


Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.
