When the house of David was told, “Syria is in league with Ephraim,” his heart and the heart of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake before the wind.


If a man should go about and utter wind and lies, saying, “I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be the preacher for this people!


For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.


And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is not yet.


By your endurance you will gain your lives.


And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified; for this must first take place, but the end will not be at once.”

I think that in view of the present distress it is well for a person to remain as he is.


Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is because of these things that the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
