20 then I will pluck you up from the land which I have given you; and this house, which I have consecrated for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

the Lord will smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and scatter them beyond the Euphrates, because they have made their Asherim, provoking the Lord to anger.


then I will cut off Israel from the land which I have given them; and the house which I have consecrated for my name I will cast out of my sight; and Israel will become a proverb and a byword among all peoples.


And the Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel, and afflicted them, and gave them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.


And they burned the house of God, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem, and burned all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all its precious vessels.


Thou hast made us a byword among the nations, a laughingstock among the peoples.


But God will break you down for ever; he will snatch and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah


But if any nation will not listen, then I will utterly pluck it up and destroy it, says the Lord.”


therefore I will hurl you out of this land into a land which neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.’


If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it,


“ ‘And many nations will pass by this city, and every man will say to his neighbor, “Why has the Lord dealt thus with this great city?”


I will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a reproach, a byword, a taunt, and a curse in all the places where I shall drive them.


And it shall come to pass that as I have watched over them to pluck up and break down, to overthrow, destroy, and bring evil, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says the Lord.


Why do you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have come to live, that you may be cut off and become a curse and a taunt among all the nations of the earth?


Thus shall you say to him, Thus says the Lord: Behold, what I have built I am breaking down, and what I have planted I am plucking up—that is, the whole land.


I will bring the worst of the nations to take possession of their houses; I will put an end to their proud might, and their holy places shall be profaned.


For if you turn away from following him, he will again abandon them in the wilderness; and you will destroy all this people.”


And you shall become a horror, a proverb, and a byword, among all the peoples where the Lord will lead you away.


and the Lord uprooted them from their land in anger and fury and great wrath, and cast them into another land, as at this day.’


These are blemishes on your love feasts, as they boldly carouse together, looking after themselves; waterless clouds, carried along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted;
