And the man cried against the altar by the word of the Lord, and said, “O altar, altar, thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name; and he shall sacrifice upon you the priests of the high places who burn incense upon you, and men's bones shall be burned upon you.’ ”


Then the king sent, and all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem were gathered to him.


Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem; his mother's name was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.


And all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.


Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem.


But the people of the land slew all those who had conspired against King Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.


Better is a poor and wise youth than an old and foolish king, who will no longer take advice,


to whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.


“For twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, to this day, the word of the Lord has come to me, and I have spoken persistently to you, but you have not listened.

Samuel was ministering before the Lord, a boy girded with a linen ephod.
