He answered, “You shall not slay them. Would you slay those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink and go to their master.”


‘Thus says the Lord, You shall not go up or fight against your brethren. Return every man to his home, for this thing is from me.’ ” So they hearkened to the word of the Lord, and returned and did not go against Jeroboam.


Now hear me, and send back the captives from your kinsfolk whom you have taken, for the fierce wrath of the Lord is upon you.”


And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Ma-aseiah the king's son and Azrikam the commander of the palace and Elkanah the next in authority to the king.


Manasseh Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh, and together they are against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away and his hand is stretched out still.


“Brethren, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you that fear God, to us has been sent the message of this salvation.


And on the following day he appeared to them as they were quarreling and would have reconciled them, saying, ‘Men, you are brethren, why do you wrong each other?’


“The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them; and you shall be a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.


You shall beget sons and daughters, but they shall not be yours; for they shall go into captivity.
