Now Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.


But when he was strong he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was false to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.


When thou givest to them, they gather it up; when thou openest thy hand, they are filled with good things.


“See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and sought refuge in his wealth!”


Put no confidence in extortion, set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them.


Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah


He who trusts in his riches will wither, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.


When your eyes light upon it, it is gone; for suddenly it takes to itself wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven.


for riches do not last for ever; and does a crown endure to all generations?


lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor, and steal, and profane the name of my God.


There is nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God;


And you, O generation, heed the word of the Lord. Have I been a wilderness to Israel, or a land of thick darkness? Why then do my people say, ‘We are free, we will come no more to thee’?


Why do you boast of your valleys, O faithless daughter, who trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come against me?’


Was not your sister Sodom a byword in your mouth in the day of your pride,


and the king said, “Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?”


but when they had fed to the full, they were filled, and their heart was lifted up; therefore they forgot me.


And whoever says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.


And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, it will be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.


He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them; and he made five talents more.


When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus.


For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.


And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!


And there was a man named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector, and rich.


And he answered them, “He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”


yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good and gave you from heaven rains and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.”


And when they arrived, they gathered the church together and declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.


nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all men life and breath and everything.


That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast only through faith. So do not become proud, but stand in awe.


Be sure of this, that no fornicator or impure man, or one who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.


with the finest produce of the ancient mountains, and the abundance of the everlasting hills,


Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’


Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.


For they themselves report concerning us what a welcome we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a living and true God,


As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine,


if I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.


For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.


In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without favor, doing nothing from partiality.


In the presence of God who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession,


But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.


For Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.


training us to renounce irreligion and worldly passions, and to live sober, upright, and godly lives in this world,


which he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,


so there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
