But the king said to him, “How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?”

And Jeremiah said to Seraiah: “When you come to Babylon, see that you read all these words,


and he laid his hands upon him, and commissioned him as the Lord directed through Moses.


But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to him, “I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.”


and crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.”


In those days Peter stood up among the brethren (the company of persons was in all about a hundred and twenty), and said,


Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to pronounce the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.”


And when this letter has been read among you, have it read also in the church of the La-odiceans; and see that you read also the letter from La-odicea.


for you know how, like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you


If any one refuses to obey what we say in this letter, note that man, and have nothing to do with him, that he may be ashamed.


This charge I commit to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophetic utterances which pointed to you, that inspired by them you may wage the good warfare,


As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine,


In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without favor, doing nothing from partiality.


Command this, so that they may be without reproach.


In the presence of God who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession,


As for the rich in this world, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on uncertain riches but on God who richly furnishes us with everything to enjoy.


I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:


Therefore, holy brethren, who share in a heavenly call, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.
