1 Kings 6:1 - Revised Standard Version

1 In the four hundred and eightieth year after the people of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, he began to build the house of the Lord.

The house which King Solomon built for the Lord was sixty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high.


In the fourth year the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid, in the month of Ziv.


Grant to Solomon my son that with a whole heart he may keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, performing all, and that he may build the palace for which I have made provision.”

These are Solomon's measurements for building the house of God: the length, in cubits of the old standard, was sixty cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.


And this was their reply to us: ‘We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the house that was built many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and finished.


He built his sanctuary like the high heavens, like the earth, which he has founded for ever.


And at the end of four hundred and thirty years, on that very day, all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt.

But it was Solomon who built a house for him.
