And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.


So it was that, when God destroyed the cities of the valley, God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot dwelt.


because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”


But Abishai the son of Zeruiah came to his aid, and attacked the Philistine and killed him. Then David's men adjured him, “You shall no more go out with us to battle, lest you quench the lamp of Israel.”


Yet for the sake of David your father I will not do it in your days, but I will tear it out of the hand of your son.


(but he shall have one tribe, for the sake of my servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel),


Yet to his son I will give one tribe, that David my servant may always have a lamp before me in Jerusalem, the city where I have chosen to put my name.


Yet the Lord would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant which he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons for ever.


There I will make a horn to sprout for David; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.


Yea, thou dost light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness.


And of Zion it shall be said, “This one and that one were born in her”; for the Most High himself will establish her.


What will one answer the messengers of the nation? “The Lord has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people find refuge.”


For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake and for the sake of my servant David.”


and give him no rest until he establishes Jerusalem and makes it a praise in the earth.


Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David, and over his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and for evermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.


“Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it—the Lord is his name:


And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.


a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to thy people Israel.”


Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”


As regards the gospel they are enemies of God, for your sake; but as regards election they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers.


And because he loved your fathers and chose their descendants after them, and brought you out of Egypt with his own presence, by his great power,


“I Jesus have sent my angel to you with this testimony for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star.”
